"It was amazing and it actually made me tear up coz I was so proud of everyone.”

“The choreography spoke for itself; you didn’t really need much explanation as you could tell what it was about. It was lively and was the first I had seen of its kind in Kampala and it’s enlightening.”

HELEN BURNINGHAM, FOUNDER

Helen started SPLASH Dance Company in May 2017, to help address the challenges she saw in her context and the lack of positive integration for persons with disability.

Helen relocated to Uganda in 2014 through Church Mission Society, and started working with CRANE (Children at Risk Action Network) and their Girls Education Challenge (GEC) project.

Helen studied BA Dance & Theology at Roehampton University, and MA Choreography at Dartington College, England.

Whilst in Uganda she has designed a Dance Teachers Handbook sharing inclusive dance methods. In addition, the booklet supports learning in literacy and maths using a more practical approach.
